liquid distractions - tell me more about my eyes

Here are some of my favorite places on the web -- one of these days I'll tidy them up a bit, but for now, this is what ya get.
::people::

lord bud
one of my very dearest friends happens to be an exceptionally talented artist and writer. he is a continual source of inspiration to me -- this site is centered around a project he accomplished awhile back. it's well worth a visit.

michelle
she just got married so has settled down. she's not near as much fun as she used to be but i love her dearly all the same...she's my favorite hillybilly in the world! now, if only she would move into a trailer. :(

shasta
another socal girl who is a genius with words and thoughts. she was a TA for a pynchon and melvile class so she is, indeed, one of my heros.

myredself
this young woman is an extraordinarily talented photographer and writer; her insights are amazing. you must, seriously, check her work out.

seerynet
what a place to visit! goodness abounds here.

meet george jetson
ok, it's not really a george w. jetson site but it is where the husband and i put information up that keeps the family & friends informed of what's going on in our lives. we never update it, so it actually serves no purpose at all. yes, we're those people guilty of clogging up the internet with useless crap.

todd & cathi's page
the todd man, a friend of lord bud will eventually become a lemming like the rest of us and register a vanity domain but until then, we'll just bookmark him and making getting to his page a little bit easier. :)

::corners of the web::

chef rick's
there are some really amazing cajun/southern recipes on this site; i actually tried the chicken and dumplings recipe and it turned out amazingly well.

common errors in english
well, i have simply fallen in love with this site and consider it to be a must-have resource for all writers, students, and people who want to espell and espeak goodly. it's not a general grammar site, but is well worth a look -- add it to your favorites list. you know you want to.

internet/virus hoax page
how many times have you received e-mail from a beloved, worried friend who wants to warn you about a virus that's spreading over the 'net that, if you catch it, will order pay-per-view movies w/o your knowledge and will cause your cat to go into heat? well, now you can just direct them to this web site and be done with it. remember, knowledge is power.

the onion
america's finest news source. really.

home of strongbad!
one of the best flash sites out there; visit and be a burninator.

eddie izzard online:
those in the know just know this man is a treasure; his stand-up his hillarious, he's a truly talented actor, and best of all, the man has dashing makeup. cake or death?

ask sister rossetta
the lavendar nun answers questions from clergy, nuns, and regular sinners like you. (this site is quite fun & irreverent)

coast to coast a.m.
once upon a time, this show was hosted by the most wonderful host in the world. sadly, said host had to depart the air but his replacement isn't all that bad. we do miss us some art bell, though -- he's our precious.

npr
this is the news source i most prefer; where cnn and msnbc strive to sensationalize the news, npr stands back and offers a bit more objectivity. streaming audio is available, which is very nice.

final meal requests
yes, it's morbid...but it also changed a few preconceived notions i had about the death penalty. things aren't as black and white as they once were for me on this subject and i can honestly say this page caused that.

fbi: freedom of information act
spies, spies, and more spies. this has some very interesting material worth a look.

eat, drink, & dine
wonder which wine goes with what meat/meal? here's the resource for you. there's also quite a bit of tidbits about obscure but wonderfully delicious potables.

the smoking gun
conspiracy theory...fun, fun, fun.

internet movie database
yeah, yeah - i'm sure everyone has been to this site; it's got everything a movie lover could ask for. except maybe for the popcorn and milkduds.

wool works - knitty goodness
this is the kind of knitting resource site that you can spend hours just gazing longingly at all the groovy patterns and projects that other knitters have created. it's a noncommercial site (my favorite!) and is totally managed by volunteers. if you knit -- or are wanting to learn how -- this is a good place to check out.

alternative hawaii
the offerings of this web site provide ideas for folks wanting to hit less "touristy" places on the islands. of course, if everyone were to do this, the places they go would become touristy, so...nevermind. it's a good site though! =D

livejournal.com
forget the paper, forget the pen -- we've got online confessionals!
